Banan Mohammed Hussein Salah El-Din, Associate Professor of Modern and Contemporary Arabic Literature in the Department of Arabic Language, Faculty of Arts, Al-Quds University, Jerusalem, Palestine. She earned a Master’s degree from Al-Quds University in Palestine and a Ph.D. from the Research Institute in Egypt. She studied Arabic Language and Literature at the Faculty of Arts, University of Jordan.
She has held several academic positions, including serving as the head of the Department of Arabic Language from 2016 to 2023. She also coordinated the Master's Program in Arabic Language and Literature and the Master's Program in Contemporary Islamic Studies. Additionally, she coordinated the Arabic Language Skills course. Her specialized field is Modern and Contemporary Arabic Literature.
She has contributed to many research activities published in prestigious academic journals. Among her notable publications are: "The Image of Andalusia in Mahmoud Darwish's Diwan 'Eleven Stars'" in the Al-Adab Journal, Taibah University; "Popular Folk Songs in Contemporary Palestinian Poetry" in the Al-Adab Journal, University of Bahrain; and "Linguistic Diglossia in Contemporary Palestinian Poetry" in the University of Fes Journal, Morocco. She also explored "Historical Figures in the Poetry of Ezzedine Al-Munasserah" in Maqabat Journal, Fes; "The Canaanite Presence in Ezzedine Al-Munasserah's Poetry" in Al-Qasimi Journal, Palestine; and "Mythological Manifestations in Ezzedine Al-Munasserah's Poetry" in Al-Baheth Journal, a peer-reviewed international journal in Batna, Algeria.
She also studied "The National Dimension in Palestinian Folk Songs between 1917 and 1948" in Studies Journal at the University of Jordan. Additionally, she contributed to the final section of the Jerusalem Encyclopedia, which focuses on non-Arab translations of various writers and scholars under the supervision of the Palestinian Ministry of Information. She also contributed to the Research on Modern Palestinian Literature Encyclopedia with a study titled "Heritage in the Poetry of Ezzedine Al-Munasserah."
She provided the introduction for the book "Icon of Palestine (Ezzedine Al-Munasserah)," which included a section with five specialized studies on the poetry of Al-Munasserah.
