Teacher Wissam Abdullah, Deputy Director of Al-Shajara School of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees "UNRWA" in Tyre, Lebanon, won several international awards.

In a statement, UNRWA indicated that teacher Wissam's interests are rooted in applied and practical sciences and encourages his commitment to developing the school's science laboratory through the application of new technologies, especially using information technology, and his methods enhanced students' learning abilities and helped them develop a vision of scientific theories which is often difficult to understand.

She pointed out that the teacher, Wissam, is keen to make learning fun by introducing e-learning games, interactive electronic tests, videos and worksheets, in addition to virtual laboratory sessions and virtual tools.

She said that UNRWA's education program in Lebanon is implementing the agency's education reform strategy, which is designed to meet the needs of the twenty-first century and help students become innovative, critical and creative thinkers, as a "teacher policy" has been developed, which recognizes the central role that teachers play. in the quality of education and seeks to enhance the teacher's professional and career advancement.

She pointed out that Wissam's career began in 2006 with World Links Arab Region, a professional development support course from UNRWA, where he embarked on a journey to learn about new information technology technologies for teaching and learning. In 2013, Wissam's school was selected to participate in a competition UNESCO "Learning for All" where their project entitled "Technology: A Student's Friend" won first place in the field of IT education and third place overall.

In 2017, his school was again selected to participate in the International School Award organized by the British Council and their project won the competition (2017-2020), and in 2021, Wissam was chosen by the National Support Organization for eTwinning in Lebanon as an ambassador for eTwinning and later as a mentor for twinning Through this role, he has worked to support educational and technical issues and has provided on-site and online training.
