Dr. Rabea Aweis holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and Ethnology from the University of Münster, Germany, awarded in 2001 with a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). He currently serves as an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Jerusalem (2001-2010). Throughout his professional career, he has held various academic positions at the University of Jerusalem, including Chair of the Sociology Department and Coordinator of Postgraduate Programs in the Zababdeh branch. He has also been a member of scientific committees and participated in seminars and scientific conferences related to civil society.
During his teaching tenure at Palestinian universities, including the American University, Al-Quds Open University, An-Najah University, and Al-Quds University, Dr. Aweis has delivered numerous scientific seminars, conducted training sessions, and supervised dozens of master's theses in the fields of rural development, regional planning, sociology, and criminology. Additionally, he has provided capacity-building consultations to various civil society organizations.
Dr. Aweis' research interests encompass the sociology of nomadism, social development, migration, refugees, regional and urban planning, social transformations, and social capital.
