Dr. Fayez Freijat holds a Ph.D. in Human Geography from the University of Warsaw, awarded in 1995. He has been a faculty member at the University of Jerusalem since 1999/2000 and previously served as the head of the Geography Department for three years. His work focuses on rural development in arid and semi-arid regions, with expertise in the affairs of the Jordan Valley. Dr. Freijat has established relationships with several local and international universities, including teaching at An-Najah University and Birzeit University and serving as a thesis examiner for master's degrees in those institutions.

In 2006, he acted as an external examiner for a doctoral dissertation in India at Cochin University in the field of development and urban and rural planning. He also served as a visiting professor at the University of Michigan in the United States in 2007. Dr. Freijat has published numerous research articles, including those in the journal "La Sapienza" at the University of Rome in Italy. Additionally, he contributed to various studies published by the University of Warsaw in Poland, including the geographical encyclopedia released in 1997.

Furthermore, Dr. Freijat was selected to teach at the summer semester in 2019 at the University of São Paulo in Brazil, focusing on water policies in the Middle East. He has worked as a trainer with the United Nations Habitat Organization, providing training to heads of rural councils in the Arab Republic of Egypt in 2005. He actively participated in various international conferences, including those held at Sultan Qaboos University in Oman and Al-Zaytoonah University in Jordan. He is a member of the General Assembly of the Arab Constructive Project and the Palestinian Geographical Society. Additionally, he serves as a member of the Geographic Names Committee under the Ministry of Local Government and has played a significant role in the seven-year-long continuous work on the Palestinian Geographic Names Atlas.
