 Teaching psychology and mental health courses Sexual Psychology: Mandatory major requirement (3 credit hours) This course deals with the psychology of sex, behavior and delusion, psychological development and social sexual adaptation, masculine and feminine sex, sex, love and marriage, sexual orientation and homosexual behaviour, homosexuality, the causes and factors that help in the emergence of homosexuality, sexual orientation and personality type, stages of sexual development and the social and psychological outlook. Personality Theories:  Compulsory specialization requirement (3 credit hours) This course deals with the concept of personality and its different definitions among psychologists, in addition to the terms that overlap with the term personality, such as character, temperament, and self. It also deals with the formation of the human personality, as well as its determinants in some detail, personality compatibility and its fields, in addition to stability and change in personality. 

It briefly discusses some methods of scientific measurement of personality, including the experimental method, correlational method, case study, observation, interview, and intelligence. After this establishment, he begins to address and explain the most important theories of personality, including: the theory of types and traits according to Hippocrates, Allport, and Cattell. He also addresses in some detail the analytical school (the first force), and after that he addresses some of the dissenters from analyticism (the new analyticists) such as Adler, Sullivan, Horney, Jung, and Fromm...

Psychological Counseling Theories: Compulsory specialization requirement (3 credit hours) This course deals with the concept of psychological counselling, the distinctive features of psychological counselling, the historical development of the psychological counseling movement, the relationship of counseling with psychotherapy, the goals and functions of psychological counselling, the dynamics and processes of counseling, the duties of the psychological counselor, scientific studies of counselling, the interview as the counselor’s main tool, the counseling process, writing.

Developmental Psychology :  Compulsory specialization requirement (3 credit hours)
This course deals with the basic principles and concepts in developmental psychology, its history and development, the meaning of growth and its causes, characteristics of growth, laws of growth, practical methods for studying growth, research methods in developmental psychology, factors that affect growth, stages of growth, a study of some childhood problems that Associated with growth phenomena.

Mental Health:  Mandatory specialization requirement (3 credit hours) This course deals with the concept of mental health and the various definitions of this concept. It also deals with some aspects of mental health such as emotional balance and motivation and some concepts of positive psychology (such as happiness, satisfaction, and self-satisfaction).

It also deals with some basic concepts related to mental health such as frustration, aggression, anxiety, Conflict. It also addresses mental health from an Islamic perspective. As well as identifying the manifestations of mental health and their relationship to socialization, subconscious defense mechanisms, and manifestations of mental health disorders such as emotional, mental, and neurotic disorders. Forensic Psychology and Crime Scene:  

Mandatory specialization requirement (3 credit hours) This course deals with crime, its causes and motivations, and the sciences branching out from criminology, sciences related to criminal psychology, forensic biology, criminal sociology, forensic psychology, innate imbalances, instincts, important instincts and their imbalances, deviation of emotions, deviant emotions and prevention of their deviations, The psychological system, psychological and mental illnesses and the difference between them, stages of personality development and their patterns, the impact of psychological problems and illnesses on responsibility for the criminal crime.

It also examines the nature of the criminal, the factors and methods that led the offender to fall into the quagmire of crime, personal and social factors, classification of criminals, It deals with the concepts related to criminal investigation, the bodies entrusted with the criminal investigation authority, the conditions that must be met by the criminal investigator, forensic photography, fingerprint science, skills in identifying traces of hands, knees, and lips, and the materials necessary to uncover the crime scene and its details.

Media Psychology :  Mandatory specialization requirement (3 credit hours) This course deals with a definition of media psychology, its elements, and its fields. Its chapters range between the theoretical and practical aspects, and others combine the two sides, which are as follows: the psychology of media in all its print, audio, and practical types. Then it deals with how to build and organize the media message.

It also discusses communication and communication in media psychology. It dealt with the topic of language and persuasion, psychological warfare, psychological pressure and psychological burnout in media work: the psychology of the audience and the media, leadership and management in media psychology, skills in media psychology, the future of the media, and concluded with a chapter on concepts in media psychology.

Addiction and Drugs: Mandatory specialization requirement (3 credit hours) This course deals with addiction, the types of drugs and their spread, its causes, and the contributing factors that relate to the life of the individual, the environment, and society. It also deals with the theories that explain addiction, the symptoms of addiction, treatment methods, and the complications that result from addiction. It also discusses the different types of drugs, their symptoms, and the consequences of using them.

Motivations and emotions: Mandatory specialization requirement (3 credit hours)
Motives are the engines behind the behavior of both humans and animals, as there is one or several reasons behind each behavior. This course deals with the study of the living organism on the one hand, and studies the stimuli of the external environment on the other hand. It studies environmental stimuli and their effect on the nervous system, and studies the living organism in terms of tendencies, needs, tendencies, readiness, and others.

It also studies the most important theories related to motivations, as well as studying the topics of hunger, thirst, sleep, sex, and motivations. Aggression, reconnaissance, locus of control, belonging, sense of competence, and other topics that directly touch human life and the organism.

Graduation Project:  Compulsory specialization requirement (3 credit hours)
In this course, the student presents research on a topic in psychology under the supervision of one of the department’s teachers. The student uses the steps of scientific research in his research. After completing his research, he submits his research to the supervisor to evaluate it and make the necessary modifications. The student presents and discusses his topic before a group of professors, students, and interested parties.

Principles of Psychology:  A compulsory college requirement (3 credit hours) This course deals with the general psychological principles and laws of human behavior, the factors and variables that govern behavior, understanding, predicting, and judging behavior, introducing psychology, research methods in psychology, schools of psychology, the nervous system, motivations and behavior, emotions, mental processes, learning, Individual differences, personality, fields of applied psychology and different branches of psychology.

Family Psychology: Mandatory specialization requirement (3 credit hours) This course deals with the concept of the family and its functions, the stages of its development, its general problems, the concept of family counseling and its development, its basic principles, theories, methods, problems in theory and research, the future of family counseling and its applications.

Islamic Psychology: Elective requirement (3 credit hours): This course deals with the study of the soul in the Qur’anic definition, the relationship of the soul to the body, mind, spirit and destiny, anxiety, natural fear and illness, death and its complexes, psychological and mental complexes, personal illnesses, diseases touched by revelation, the concept of calamity in light of Qur’anic guidance, death, and psychological frustration in a scientific and conceptual perspective.

The Qur’an, the reality of man between responsibility (public and private honor), and man’s realization of his humanity.
Contemporary issues and trends in mental health:

Mandatory requirement (3 credit hours) Master’s program in youth mental health The course aims to address the most important contemporary issues in mental health that pose psychological, social and behavioral problems, such as family upbringing, addiction, violence, sexual deviations,..., which are faced by the contemporary social structure and structure.

The course seeks to discuss and address them with modern and contemporary theories and trends, through objective interpretation and analysis of the causes, events and situations that cause their emergence, especially the cultural aspect, rapid preventive intervention, and measuring the degree of change and the extent of the stability of this change among individuals in particular and society in general. The importance of positive psychology concepts and their applications in real life.

This course also shows students how to address these issues by studying the criteria of equality and dissimilarity, and by observation, concepts, and terminology related to that, and focusing on solving problems, roles, and the functional, analytical, productive, and therapeutic structure of society.
