Dr. Rabee Awis holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and Ethnology from the University of Münster, Germany, awarded in 2001 through a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). He is currently an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of Jerusalem (2001-2010).
Throughout his career, he has held various academic positions at the University of Jerusalem, including Head of the Sociology Department and Coordinator of Postgraduate Programs at the Zababdeh Branch. He has also served on scientific committees and participated in seminars and scientific conferences related to civil society development.
During his teaching tenure at Palestinian universities such as the American University, Al-Quds Open University, An-Najah National University, and Al-Quds University, Dr. Awis has conducted numerous scientific seminars and training sessions. He has supervised dozens of master's theses in the fields of rural development, regional planning, sociology, and criminology. Additionally, he has provided capacity-building consultations for various civil society institutions.
Dr. Awis's research interests focus on sociological aspects of nomadism, social development, migration, refugees, regional and urban planning, social transformations, and social capital.
