Information
Dr. Jasem Tamimi is an Associate Professor in Control System Engineering at the College of Engineering and a researcher at the Intelligent Systems Research Center at Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU), Hebron, Palestine. He holds a Ph.D. in Control System Engineering from Ilmenau University of Technology in Germany, awarded with the highest honors (summa cum laude) in 2011. His dissertation focused on the development of efficient algorithms for model predictive control of fast systems. Dr. Tamimi also holds a Master’s degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering from Al-Quds University, where he completed a thesis on optimal vector control of three-phase induction machines, and a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Automation Engineering from PPU.
His research interests include optimal control, soft computing, modeling, simulation, numerical analysis, control theory, model predictive control, and electrical machine control.
Dr. Tamimi teaches several core courses in the field of electrical and control engineering. These include Analysis of Electrical Circuits, which covers fundamental topics such as circuit variables, Kirchhoff’s laws, Thévenin and Norton equivalents, and AC/DC circuit analysis. He also teaches Applications in Circuits and Electronics, focusing on operational amplifiers, Laplace transforms, filter design, and electronic devices including transistors and oscillators. Lab sessions accompanying this course provide students with hands-on experience in network analysis and microelectronic components.
His teaching draws on widely respected textbooks, including Electric Circuits by Nilsson and Riedel, and Electronic Devices by Floyd. Dr. Tamimi’s classes are held in various labs and lecture rooms on the Wad El Harya campus, and he maintains weekly office hours for student support and consultation.
For academic inquiries or collaboration, he can be reached via email at jtamimi@ppu.edu, and his office is located in room B209.
