Adeeb Kanafani is an American engineer of Palestinian origin from the city of Acre. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the American University of Beirut, followed by a Ph.D. in the same field from the University of California.
Dr. Kanafani contributed to the establishment of an airport in Denmark and participated in numerous projects across the United States related to airport development and smart transportation systems.
In 2002, he was elected President of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) — one of the highest and most prestigious positions within the American engineering community.
He also served as the Director of the Institute of Transportation Studies for 15 years and has been a professor at the University of California, where he continues to contribute to research and education in transportation engineering
