Muhammad Naim Abd al-Salam Yasin was born in the city of Salfit on June 11, 1943. He studied the primary and secondary stages in Salfit schools, and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Sharia from Damascus University in 1964, a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the same university in 1965, a Master’s degree in Sharia (Comparative Jurisprudence) from Al-Azhar University in 1968, a Master’s degree in Law from Cairo University in 1968, and a Doctorate in Sharia (Comparative Jurisprudence) from Al-Azhar University in 1972.
He worked as a lecturer at the Faculty of Sharia at the University of Jordan from 1972, and at Kuwait University between 1978 and 1992. He also lectured at the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Qatar University between 1995 and 1998. He headed the Department of Jurisprudence and Legislation at the University of Jordan between 1977 and 1979, the Department of Comparative Jurisprudence and Islamic Politics at Kuwait University between 1986 and 1990, and the Department of Law at the World Islamic Sciences and Education University between 2008 and 2009. He participated in establishing the Faculty of Sharia at Kuwait University and in developing curricula and academic content for the Faculties of Sharia and Law at the University of Jordan, Kuwait University, and Qatar University. He reviewed numerous research papers and studies, supervised and examined doctoral and master's theses, served on the editorial boards of academic journals, participated in Sharia supervisory boards at financial institutions, and was a member of several scientific committees and councils, including the Scientific Committee for the Encyclopedia of Islamic Jurisprudence (Ministry of...). The Endowments in Kuwait between (1980-1990), the Scientific Sharia Economic Committee in Kuwait in 1984, the Committee for Developing the Collective Investment System for Minors’ Funds in Kuwait in 1985, the Fatwa Council in Jordan between (1990-1995), the Committee for Establishing the Diploma in Judiciary at the College of Sharia and Law at Qatar University in 1996, and the Graduate Studies Committee at the College of Sharia at the University of Jordan between (2003-2004).
He produced a number of peer-reviewed scientific research papers and studies in more than one aspect of Islamic sciences, and he published a number of books, including: The Blessing of Faith (1973), Faith: Its Pillars - Its Reality - Its Nullifiers (1978), Jihad: Its Fields and Methods (1978), A Concise Guide to Islamic Criminal Jurisprudence (1982), The Reality of Jihad in Islam (1984), Fabrications about the Goals of Jihad (1984), The Role of Believers in the Islamic Perspective (1984), Human Powers Between the Guidance of the Merciful and the Temptation of Satan (1985), Those Who Fear Islam: Why? (1989), Studies in the Mind (2011), Jurisprudential Research on Contemporary Medical Issues (2013), Contemporary Zakat Issues (2016), Contemporary Intellectual Issues in the Qur’an, Faith and the Soul (2017), and Utilizing the Time Formula in Resolving and Preventing International Disputes (2017). He also co-authored a number of books, including: Islamic Culture (1989), Jihad and Islamic Systems (1992), Introduction to the Dictionary of the Holy Qur’an, The Jurisprudential Encyclopedia, and Jurisprudential Research on Contemporary Zakat Issues.
He died in Amman on December 2, 2023.
