Amir Abdul Aziz Ahmed Saleh Rasras was born in the depopulated village of Al-Faluja, Gaza District, in 1935. He is married and has two sons and four daughters. His father was the freedom fighter Abdul Aziz Rasras, known as "Al-Ajam." He completed his primary education in Al-Faluja and Hebron, and his secondary education in Hebron, graduating from Al-Hussein Bin Ali Secondary School. He earned a bachelor's degree in Sharia from Damascus University in 1967, a master's degree from Al-Azhar University in 1975, and a doctorate from the same university in 1977. He is considered the first person in Palestine to hold the rank of professor. He worked as a teacher in the Ministry of Education for 22 years, then as a lecturer at several universities, including Al-Quds University/Abu Dis, the Islamic University in Gaza, and Hebron University. He also lectured at An-Najah National University in Nablus from 1980 to 2010.
Rarsas grew up religious, joined the Muslim Brotherhood at an early age, and became involved in its activities in the West Bank and Jordan, becoming one of its leaders. He witnessed the revival of its activities in Hebron after the 1967 war. He was active in institutional scientific work; he was a founding member of the Association of Palestinian Scholars, a member of the Intellectual and Islamic Research Academy, a member of the Ahl al-Bayt Research Academy in Jordan, and a member of the Supreme Fatwa Council in Palestine.
Ashraf Rasras supervised numerous master's theses and authored dozens of books on Islamic jurisprudence, thought, and history, including: *Human Rights in Islam* (1997), *Jurisprudence of the Quran and Sunnah* (2000), *A Concise Encyclopedia of the History of Islam and Muslims* (three volumes, 2003), *Jurisprudence of Faith and Vows* (2005), *Slanders Against Islam and Muslims* (2005), *Criminal Jurisprudence in Islam* (2010), *A Comprehensive Encyclopedia of Quranic Exegesis* (six volumes, 2012), *Invalid Marriages Prohibited in Islamic Law* (2013), and *An Encyclopedia of the Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence* (two volumes, 2015). His forthcoming works include: *The Delusions of Orientalists*, *Islamic Sects and Comparative Religion*, *The Human Soul in the Balance of Islam*, *Studies in Comparative Jurisprudence*, and *Islam's Suitability for All Times and Places*. He also served as a consultant to Islamic banks.
