Information
Riyad Ighbariya is a Palestinian professor from the city of Umm al-Fahm. He earned his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1990 and subsequently specialized in drug development for AIDS and cancer at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Washington, D.C.
He holds a first degree in Biology specializing in Biochemistry, as well as second and third degrees in Pharmacology. He has conducted continuing education courses for biology teachers in Arab schools and worked in the laboratories of Soroka Hospital in Beersheba.
In 1997, he began working as a lecturer at Ben-Gurion University, where he progressed through academic ranks to become Head of the Pharmacology Department and later Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy. He has conducted scientific research at the NIH and published 25 scientific articles.
Together with his wife and a partner, he founded an academic educational program for school students, which eventually focused on preparing medical and physiotherapy students for licensing exams.
He is also involved in a charitable project to build an educational foundation supporting the advancement of Bedouin girls in medical and scientific fields, as well as providing scholarships. He was awarded the title of Professor in Pharmaceutical Sciences by Ben-Gurion University.
