Bassam Fathi Al-Balawi is a Russian activist and doctor of Palestinian origin. He holds a PhD in International Law, specializing in the defense of human rights and the rights of peoples.
He received the Child Protection Award from the Russian Child Protection Foundation and was awarded the Medal of the President of the Mari El Republic on two occasions.
He has participated in numerous international conferences, including conferences on international law and human rights, and took part in the first human rights conference held in the Soviet capital, Moscow, in 1988.
Between 1994 and 1997, he served as an advisor to the President of the Chuvash Republic on Arab world and Middle East affairs. In 2006, he was elected President of the Asian and African Solidarity and Cooperation Organization in the Chuvash Republic of the Russian Federation, a position he continues to hold to this day.
