Majed Mohammed Al-Farra was born in Khan Yunis on January 3, 1964. He is married and has five children. He studied primary and secondary education in Khan Yunis schools, and obtained his high school diploma from Khaled Al-Hassan Secondary School for Boys. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the Islamic University of Gaza in 1986, a master's degree in the same field from the University of Exeter in Britain in 1992, a doctorate in the same field from the same university in 1998, and a master's degree in administrative development from the European-Arab School of Management in Spain in 2000.
Al-Farra worked as a lecturer in the Department of Administrative Sciences at the Faculty of Commerce at the Islamic University in Gaza since 1998. He became Head of the Department of Business Administration at the Faculty of Commerce between (2000-2002), Supervisor of Graduate Studies at the Faculty of Commerce between (2003-2006), Vice Dean of the Faculty of Commerce between (2006-2007), Dean of Planning and Development at the University between (2007-2009), Dean of the Faculty of Commerce between (2009-2013), Dean of the Islamic University, Southern Branch/Khan Yunis between (2013-2015), Vice President of the Islamic University for Administrative Affairs between (2015-2019), and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dar Al-Salam Hospital/Khan Yunis since 2011. He participated in preparing strategic plans, consulting studies, and training in administrative, research, and structural skills for a number of official and non-governmental Palestinian institutions.
Al-Farra became involved in institutional activity; he was a member of the Society for Community Development in Khan Yunis, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Palestinian Zakat Authority in the Gaza Strip since 2011, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Authority for Quality Assurance of Higher Education in Palestine between (2011-2016). He was also the head and a member of a number of committees within the Islamic University, including: Head of the External Evaluation Team for the Management and Political Science Academy programs in 2015, a member of the Financial Competencies Committee for the colleges between (2016-2017), Head of the University Committee for launching the Student Fund Endowment between (2017-2018), and Head of the Scientific Committee for seven scientific conferences held between (2008-2017).
Al-Farra was active in writing and specialized authorship, and he began writing his peer-reviewed scientific research since 1999. He published 40 individual and joint scientific papers in Arabic and English in local, Arab and international journals. He presented scientific papers to a number of academic conferences in Palestine and abroad, and received the award for best published research in the EuroMed Journal of Business in 1913. He has a number of published books, including: Management: Concepts and Practices (joint, 2003), and Scientific Research Methods and Statistical Analysis in Administrative Sciences (joint, 2011). He was also a member of editorial and arbitration boards of international journals specializing in business administration and commerce, an arbitrator for the Arab International Conference for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (IACQA), a member of the editorial board of the Islamic University Journal of Economic and Administrative Studies, and he supervised 130 master's and doctoral theses, and was an examiner for 80 master's theses in management.
He contracted the coronavirus and died in Istanbul on March 25, 2021.
