Aliya Adel Abu Zeina is a Lecturer at the College of Applied Professions at Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU), where she teaches within the Bachelor of Business Administration program. Her teaching responsibilities include a range of courses related to business administration, leadership, office work, communication, and practical professional skills.
Among the courses she teaches are Print 1, Print 2, Leadership 1 and 2, Office Work, Administration, Communication Skills, and Audio Editing and Transcription. Her academic work reflects an emphasis on developing students’ administrative, communication, and professional competencies.
She has also taught the Communication Skills course, a three-credit-hour course offered during the second semester of the 2018–2019 academic year. The course aims to develop students’ ability to communicate effectively with themselves and others and to build respectful and constructive relationships across different social and cultural contexts.
The course covers a range of communication and interpersonal skills, including verbal and non-verbal communication, effective listening, dialogue, persuasion, interviews, presentation and delivery skills, and résumé writing. It also addresses personal development, conflict and emotional management, relationship building, and the development of professional support networks.
The intended learning outcomes emphasize students’ understanding of personal and communication skills, including confidence, appearance, values, assertive communication, questioning, and rejection skills. Students are also expected to develop the ability to manage differences of opinion, resolve conflicts, deliver effective presentations, prepare professional résumés in Arabic and English, perform successfully in job interviews, and build personal and professional relationships.
In addition, the course develops transferable skills such as using computers and social media to establish and maintain personal and professional networks, as well as the ability to work efficiently and effectively as part of a team.
