Information

Mahmoud Qasim Ahmed Abu Al-Zuluf was born in the occupied city of Jaffa on April 5, 1924. He is married and has three sons and two daughters. He studied primary school at Al-Maaref School in Jaffa, and secondary school in Lebanon and Egypt. He obtained a BA in Media and Political Science from the American University of Beirut in 1948, and joined Columbia University in the United States. He worked as a journalist for Al-Difaa newspaper until 1953, and was responsible for editing foreign affairs there. He participated in establishing Al-Jihad newspaper in the city of Jerusalem in 1951 with journalists Salim Al-Sharif  and Mahmoud Yaish , which continued to be published until 1967. When a decision was issued by the Jordanian authorities to unify the newspapers in Jordan into only two newspapers, one of which would be in Jerusalem, Abu Al-Zuluf and his fellow journalists were forced to merge Al-Difaa and Al-Jihad newspapers and establish  Al-Quds newspaper , the first issue of which was published on March 21, 1967. Abu Al-Zuluf became its owner and editor-in-chief until his death.

Al-Quds newspaper stopped working after the 1967 war by a decision of the occupying powers, so Abu Al-Zuluf made an effort to bring it back again, and he succeeded in doing so in 1968. He worked for decades to develop the newspaper, appointing correspondents in more than one country around the world, and tried to expand its distribution locations, so he obtained a license to distribute it in Jordan, and he also tried to transform it into a major media institution, so he founded Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper in London.

Abu Al-Zuluf died in Jerusalem on March 28, 2005.
