Abd al-Latif Akl (1942-1993) is a Palestinian poet, writer and researcher. He was born in 1942 in the town of Deir Istiya in Salfit Governorate.

 

His upbringing and education

Abd al-Latif Akl was born in the town of Deir Istiya, north of the Salfit governorate. He received his primary and preparatory education in the schools of the towns of Kifl Haris and Deir Istiya. He obtained high school in Amman, then completed his education in the United States of America to obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966, after which he completed He completed his postgraduate studies until he obtained a master's degree in 1980 and later a doctorate in social psychology from the University of Houston.

He worked as a teacher in Palestinian secondary schools, at Bethlehem University and An-Najah National University, and as a vice-president and associate professor at that university in 1992. Headed the Al-Sarraj Center for Culture, Arts and Theater, and the Membership and Reading Committee of the Palestinian Writers Union. He has won a number of awards in social and theatrical psychology. Those who wrote about him: Ahmed Hamed, Abdel Wahhab El-Messiri, and among his students, Dr. Helmy El-Zawati.

A collection of his articles were published in two books: (The Secret of the Blue Bird... Like Blood) in 1985, and (Peace be upon you) in 2007.

 

He also published two books in the academic field: Social Psychology (1985), and Educational Waste (1983).

 

Among the poetry collections: The Beaches of the Moon (1964), Songs of the Summit and the Bottom (1972), It or Death (1973), Poems about Love That Knows No Mercy (1975), Children Chasing Locusts (1976), Dialogue of One Sorrow (1985), and Al-Hassan Bin Zurayq is still leaving (1986), Heart for the Dead Sea (1990), A Statement of Shame and Return (1992), and Repentance for Repentance (2006).
