Kamel Al-Mughni (December 27, 1943 - March 5, 2008) was a Palestinian artist, born in Al-Shujaia neighborhood in Gaza. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Decoration from the University of Alexandria in 1966. He is one of the founders of the Association of Plastic Artists in Palestine. He also contributed to the establishment of the Association of Plastic Artists in the Gaza Strip. belonging to the ranks of the Palestinian revolution.

 

His upbringing and work

Kamel Al-Mughni was born in Al-Shujaeya neighborhood, east of Gaza City. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in decoration from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Alexandria University in 1966 AD, then a master’s degree in the psychology of symbol and color in 1987 AD. He was arrested for three years in Israeli prisons from 1969 to 1972 because of his membership in the ranks of the Palestinian revolution.

 

He was one of the founding members of the Faculty of Fine Arts at An-Najah National University in Nablus in 1993 AD, and he is a founding member of the Association of Plastic Artists in occupied Palestine in 1974 AD, and he participated in the establishment of the Plastic Artists Association in the Gaza Strip in 1984 AD and the Movement Office for Artists in the Nablus and North Region 1999 AD and the Department of Fine Arts in the College of Arts Media, Al-Aqsa University, Gaza, 2003.

 

He worked as head of the Department of Fine Arts at An-Najah National University in Nablus between 1993-2000 AD, and also worked as head of the Palestinian Plastic Artists Association in the West Bank and Gaza Strip 1990-1991 AD. He held the position of President of the Palestinian Plastic Artists Association in the Gaza Strip in 1989 AD. He worked as head of the Movement Office for Artists in the Nablus and North Region in 1999 AD.

 

He held thirty-five personal and bilateral exhibitions inside and outside the country, and participated in most of the group exhibitions of the Palestinian Plastic Artists Association inside the country, and he also participated in most of the group exhibitions of the General Union of Palestinian Artists outside the country. He participated in the signing of a cooperation agreement between the General Union of Palestinian Artists and the Union of Soviet Artists 1979, and participated in the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Association of Palestinian Artists and the Union of Artists of the German Democratic Republic, Berlin, 1988 AD, and he was the representative of the General Union of Palestinian Plastic Artists in the International Art Committee in Paris 1988. He worked as a lecturer for design at the University Al-Aqsa, and designed the logo of Al-Aqsa University in 2001.

 

He completed nearly six hundred works of art during his artistic stages, which are still displayed today in a number of international museums and private holdings inside and outside Palestine. He was chosen as a distinguished international artist for the year 2000 in the global encyclopedia: Who,s Who (who is he), which deals with creators in the world.
