Information

Manar Zoubi (born 1964 in Nazareth, Palestine) is a multidisciplinary performance artist.

her life

I studied physical education in the eighties. At the end of the 90's, I started studying art.

Zoabi's work deals with images of feminism and Palestinian national identity. Most of her work is in balance, as she works to combine signs and spaces.

Artist Manar Zoabi lives and works in Nazareth.

its business

Her work revolves around the connotations of the body and its clothing, especially dealing with the limbs, and we see this through her use of women's stockings in her works with the aim of attracting the audience to many directions in terms of feelings of pain and burning, hygiene, grooming, and femininity to crystallize a collective cultural memory.

What distinguishes the artist Manar Zoabi's work is that it gives space for self-diligence to each person without having a deep knowledge of art in order to understand the idea or the content of the work. The audience can communicate with her works in a visual way and contents without the need for intellectual guidance.

It is necessary to pay attention, because whoever navigates the hidden contents that lie in her works by sharpening the viewer for deep thinking, the work may decline if he is given a space and a platform for interpretation and his motives.

The artist Zoubi is distinguished through her works in her insistence on restoring the Palestinian cultural dignity and stresses on feminist and eastern issues through metaphorical artistic expression, emphasizing symbols and navigating the imagination.

Artist Manar Zoabi touches on the symbols of body clothing in her various works, as she deals with feminist details.

One of her distinguished works of art: “The Elevator Speech”, which aims to present the issue of the Arabic language in the Yafi community and the displacement of Palestinians from their homes and their transformation into refugees during the occupation.

The exhibition is part of the “Houses after the Hyphen” project, which will be held in Yafo/Jaffa from May 14-16.
