Ali Fayyad is a Palestinian writer and politician.

 

about him

He was born in 1947 in the village of Kartia in the Gaza district (according to the divisions of Palestine during the mandate). His family took refuge in the Khan Yunis refugee camp in the Gaza Strip in the middle of 1948 after the destruction of their village by Zionist gangs during the 1948 war. He obtained high school from Gaza in 1966 and joined Cairo University. To study at the Faculty of Arts, Department of Journalism, from which he graduated in 1970. He joined the Media Department of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement, Fatah, in 1970, then the Unified Media of the Palestine Liberation Organization in 1972, where he contributed to the establishment and development of Palestinian media institutions. Between 1970 and 1975, he was entrusted with many media coverage tasks for many revolutionary movements in the Arab world and in Southeast Asia. And contributed to the transfer of experiences of the Palestinian revolution.

 

After the famous speech of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat at the United Nations in 1974, the countries of the world began to recognize the Palestine Liberation Organization as the legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, to establish bilateral relations, and to receive representations and media offices in their capitals. Due to his experience in Southeast Asia, Ali Fayyad was sent as ambassador to the Palestine Liberation Organization in Vietnam in 1976, and he began his duties there in introducing the Palestinian cause and the struggle of the Palestinian people. He expanded the organization's relations in the rest of the countries of the region, such as Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.

 

He was officially retired from his work as an ambassador in 1987 after he disagreed with the leadership over the new political approach after leaving Lebanon and supported the internal reform movement, where he resided in the Syrian capital (Damascus) and returned to practice his profession as a journalist and political writer specializing in international affairs, especially Southeast Asia. He published a series of articles, studies, and research in many Palestinian periodicals (such as Al-Hadaf Magazine, Al-Hurriya Magazine, Samed Magazine, Al-Masar Newspaper, and Palestinian Affairs) and Arabic (such as Al-Hayat Newspaper, Al-Mustaqbal Newspaper, Al-Rai Newspaper, Al-Ittihad Newspaper, Al-Khaleej Newspaper, and Awsat Affairs Magazine). and the International Information Quarterly).

 

During the 1990s, he contributed to the establishment of many activities in the Palestinian camps in Syria, such as committees for the defense of national culture and the right of return, in addition to his union activity in the Palestinian Writers and Journalists Union and solidarity campaigns with contemporary Arab issues.
