Marwan Abdel Rahim Al-Allan (1952) is a Palestinian poet, painter, and writer. He was born in Aqabat Jaber camp near Jericho and grew up there. He studied at the Teachers Institute in Irbid, specializing in art education. He worked as a teacher for six years. He was arrested for seven years, and after his release, he worked as a designer and painter at Al-Quds Open University . He has many poetry collections and writings. 

His biography

Marwan Abdel Rahim Al-Alan was born in the year 1372 AH/1952 AD in the Aqabat Jabr Palestinian refugee camp near the city of Jericho and grew up there. He studied the first stages in camp schools affiliated with the International Relief Agency for Palestinian Refugees, then in schools in the city of Jericho, and completed high school in Amman. Then he joined the Teachers Institute in Irbid, and specialized in art education.

He worked as a teacher for six years until he was arrested for seven years. After his release, he continued his literary and artistic life, and worked as an artistic designer and painter at Al-Quds Open University . From 1986 to 1992, he held seven art exhibitions in Amman and Damascus. He obtained a Diploma in Arts, a Bachelor’s in Arabic Language, and a Master’s in Islamic History from Birzeit University in Palestine, and a Doctorate in Islamic Civilization from the National University of Malaysia.

He worked as editor-in-chief and franchisee of “Tashkeel” magazine, which specializes in fine art affairs, and he is the owner of “Tashkeel Gallery.” He is a member of the Jordanian Writers Association , the General Union of Palestinian Writers and Writers , and the General Union of Palestinian Visual Artists.

His awards and honors

April 24, 2017: Philadelphia University Award for the best book in the field of humanities, for his book “Arab-Islamic Art.” The award was shared equally with Mufleh Al-Adwan.
