Dareen Tatour is a Palestinian poet, photographer and political and social activist. She was born in the village of Al-Rainah, Nazareth District, on April 16, 1982. She finished high school in her town, then studied engineering and programming, then media and film directing.
On October 11, 2015 she was arrested by the Israeli Zionist occupation authorities, and her trial lasted for three consecutive years, which she spent between imprisonment, home detention, exile and house arrest. Social networking sites, where she was accused of inciting violence and terrorism and supporting a terrorist organization. She received international support and her case turned into one of public opinion for freedom of expression and political persecutions of artists, writers, and poets. The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) said the poet's case had become a cause of fame for freedom of expression defenders and drew attention to the recent rise in Israeli arrests of Palestinians accused of incitement. INTERNATIONAL PEN has consistently supported her case, saying that her prosecution "relies on a willful misunderstanding of her actions and is an unacceptable attack on freedom of expression. Another prominent supporter of her is Jewish Voice for Peace and New York Justice. She was released from prison on 21 -09-2018.
Dareen continued political activity, as she participated in demonstrations in front of Damoun prison to demand the release of detained prisoners, such as the captive Mai Maasarwe from the town of Taybeh inside occupied Palestine in 1948.
Her literary and artistic works:
Her literary and artistic works are characterized by a double narrative, as she combines poetry, writing and photography, and her works are concerned with politics and the oppression of her Palestinian people, as well as the oppression of women in a patriarchal society. It also calls for women's silence to be broken about harassment, sexual assault and violence against them.
She released the Diwan of the Last Conquest in 2010. A number of her poems have been translated into English and Hebrew.
In prison, she wrote a play called: I, Dareen Tatour, in which she tells about her suffering in the occupation prison and documents her experience, and it has been shown since October 2018 until today in Hebrew and English in several places in occupied Palestine and abroad.

Over the years, she has held several photographic exhibitions under the name "About My Country, Tell Me", in which she documents the Palestinian villages displaced in 1948 and the various events that occur in Palestine, whether political, social or artistic.
She held a photographic exhibition entitled I, Captive No. 9022438, in which she documents the stages of her existence in detention and house arrest, in which she raised the issue of home detention and house arrest of Palestinian people by the Israeli occupation authorities.

Achievements and Awards
- In 2015 she won the Al-Ain magazine award for supporting politically persecuted artists.
- In 2016 she was awarded the Danish poet Charles Scharenberg Prize.
- In 2017, she won the International Translation Day Award, as her poems were translated into more than 20 languages
- in the world, organized by the International PEN Organization, which adopted her cause.
