Information

Yara Bamieh (born in Jerusalem in 1986), is a Palestinian writer and illustrator of children's literature, architect, interior and graphic designer, living in Ramallah. So far, she has published fifteen stories for children and young adults.

Her career
She studied architecture and graduated from the Department of Architecture at Birzeit University in 2009 and works at the Rewaq Foundation, where in 2014 she joined its restoration unit, and worked on several projects, the most important of which was the restoration of historical buildings in various Palestinian villages in Ramallah, Jerusalem and Hebron, and on developing an identity Rwaq Visual, which is also responsible for graphic design for publications and print materials in Rwaq.
The cartoons were designed by books and publications issued by several organizations, and in 2012 she released her first book, drawing and text for children, "The Little Secret", which was translated into Swedish, and so far she has produced fifteen stories for children and young adults that have been published in Ramallah and the region.

Achievements and Awards

Bulgach's story and the book The Seven Questions won the Best Director award at the Etisalat Award in 2016.
She won the 2015 My Book Award for Arab Children's Literature for her illustration of the book Kalam from Sakhr by Hadeel Nashef, published by Dar Asala.
Kalam from Sakhr book was nominated for the Arab Child Book Award - Etisalat in Dubai, within the Sharjah Festival
In 2016, she received the Etisalat Children's Book Award in the graphic category for "The Seven Questions" and "Bulqash".
The book “Where’s My Beak?” was shortlisted for the Sheikh Zayed Book Award in its thirteenth session on the Child and Young Persons Literature Branch, issued by the Palestine Writing Workshop in 2018.
