Majid Hassi (July 12, 1944 - August 8, 2021) was a Palestinian poet and writer. His father, Youssef Hassi, and his mother, Shahrban. Al-Mawlid Dalia al-Karmel is one of the Palestinian literary poets whom the literary scene has known in this country since the seventies of the last century, through his poems that he used to publish in the local newspapers that were published at the time.

Majid Hassees married his cousin in 1965 and had five children with her: (Rabiah, Salma, Youssef, Mamoun and Ayman) and began practicing poetry in the early seventies, the late had his youngest son Ayman, who suffered from a mental disability. His son’s illness occupied a large part of his mind and heart, so he wrote many poems expressing his pain, such as the preface to the book “You are the rich,” which he published in 1997, where he began with the following:

 

I have a yen of pain

 

And the heart of me is squeezing

 

They said:

 

He will live as a “plant”

 

And medicine can't bring it back

And he was diagnosed only two years later (2016) with multiple myeloma, where he underwent an autologous marrow transplant in the same year, which helped in his survival for five consecutive years, during which he issued a book “Carmeleh Roots” and work began on the publication of a book that recalls the history of Daliyat al-Karmel and mixes Among the inherited stories and pictures taken in the past, and unfortunately, the book has not been published yet.

In addition to writing poetry, the late Majid Hassi excelled in the art of public speaking. He delivered speeches of lament in funeral processions and represented his family and country in public events. In 1982, he was appointed director of Primary School “B” in his village and transformed his school within a few years into a model school after changing the curricula in mathematics, Arabic and Hebrew and creating an atmosphere of fruitful cooperation between the teaching staff and parents, especially the parents’ committees, and he practiced presenting poetry evenings and television programs And charity on the internal stations to support his country and led many women’s courses voluntarily to urge them to learn calligraphy and reading to facilitate their practice of the duties and teachings of their religion, in addition to training students from the primary school in expression and composition, and this dear country has reciprocated honor, honor and honor several times during his life, the late poet and educator won Majid Hussaini in the year 2014, the full-time award for poetry from the Ministry of Education

The Arab Orthodox College in Haifa

He completed his primary education in his hometown, and moved to finish his secondary education at the Arab Orthodox College in Haifa in 1962. He then joined the education corps after graduating, as he was appointed as a teacher for primary, preparatory and secondary classes in Daliyat al-Karmel and Isfiya. In order to serve and strengthen his neighborhood’s sons and neighbors, he moved to its administration in 1993, and ended his teaching career in 1995 to devote himself to caring for his wife and son after they suffered from difficult health conditions. Before that, believing that science is the mainstay of the future and that people advance in it, he joined the University of Haifa and studied Arabic and Comparative Literature and obtained a BA in 1982.
