Amer Shafi’ Sabah is a Jordanian football goalkeeper of Palestinian origin from the village of Kafr Zibad in the Qalqilya district. He currently plays for Al-Wehdat Club, wearing the number 1 jersey as the team’s main goalkeeper, and he is also the first-choice goalkeeper for the Jordanian national team.

Shafi’ has had several professional experiences, having played for Al-Faisaly (Jordan), Ismaily SC (Egypt), and his original club Al-Yarmouk (Jordan). He was among the standout players in the AFC Asian Cup tournaments of 2004 and 2011, during which the Jordanian national team reached the quarterfinals in both editions.

The goalkeeper received offers from several European clubs and is regarded as one of the most beloved players among Arab fans, who often chant his name after victories or when he makes crucial saves. He is widely known by his nickname, “The Whale of Asia.”
