Ali Ahmad Faisal was born in the town of Tarshiha, Acre District, on July 1, 1948. He is married and has two daughters and a son. He studied primary school at the UNRWA schools of Qana and Al-Quds, and secondary school at the Al-Adab School in Burj al-Barajneh camp in Beirut. He obtained a diploma in education from the UNRWA Teachers' Training Institute in Siblin in 1971, and attended the Arab University and the Lebanese University in Beirut between 1972 and 1973. He worked as a teacher at the UNRWA Al-Fida School between 1971 and 1984.
Faisal adopted leftist thought since 1968, and joined the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine since its inception in 1969. He became its official in the Burj al-Barajneh camp in 1973, the political commissioner of its forces in the southern suburbs during the occupation army’s invasion of Beirut in 1982, its official in Beirut in 1989, a member of its central committee in 1989, a member of its political bureau in 1995, its official in Lebanon in 1996, a member of the Palestinian National Council since 1998, a member of the General Secretariat of the Conference of Arab Parties since 2004, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Global Gathering to Support the Resistance Option in 2015, a member of the Arab National Conference since 2017, and a member of the Arab Coordination for Resisting Normalization in 2021.
Faisal appears on audio, visual and written media, and is hosted by magazines specializing in Palestinian affairs and websites to talk about developments in the Palestinian issue. He writes political and analytical articles about the Palestinian cause and the situation of Palestinians in Lebanon. He has published a number of books, including: Palestinian Refugees and UNRWA (1996), Refugees and the Right of Return (2000), Sharm El Sheikh.. Refugees.. The Permanent Solution (2000), The Disengagement Plan (joint, 2005), and The Palestinian Cause Between Annexation and Normalization (joint, 2021).
Faisal sees the necessity of struggling to end the division on a unified Palestinian basis whose elements are: armed resistance, popular resistance, disengagement from the Oslo Accords, withdrawal of recognition of the occupying state, boycotting it economically, isolating it internationally, and prosecuting it legally as a state of war crimes and discrimination. He rejects the Oslo Accords and its security and economic annexes “because they constitute a coup against the phased program of the Palestine Liberation Organization,” and calls for its cancellation, as well as the cancellation of the Paris Agreement and security coordination.
