Mrs. Issam Abdel Hadi (1928 - 2013) one of the pioneers of women's and social work and the national struggle since 1949 when she began her work in the Palestinian Women's Union in Nablus. One of the institutions of the General Union of Palestinian Women. She won the Ibn Rushd Prize for Free Thought in 2000. She was one of eight Palestinian women nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005, as part of a project to award a thousand women the Nobel Peace Prize.

She was born in Nablus in 1928. She initially studied at Al-Aishiya School for Girls in Nablus and completed her secondary education at the Friends School in Ramallah. She is the mother of Faisal, Saad, Fadia, and Fayhaa Abdel-Hadi.

The limits of her work were not limited to the struggle for women's rights only, but also to the struggle for the rights of the Palestinian people. In 1969, she was arrested and tortured in prison with her daughter, Fayhaa, on charges of providing the resistance with material assistance and sheltering wanted fedayeen. As a result, the Israeli occupation authorities deported them to Jordan, to be the first Palestinian expelled.

In 1949 she was elected secretary of the Arab Women's Union in Nablus. She was also elected president of the General Union of Palestinian Women in 1965 at its first founding conference held in Jerusalem. She is a member of the first National Council held in Jerusalem in 1964.
