Fawaz Muhammad Abd al-Rahman Aql (August 20, 1949-) is a Palestinian politician and academic .  He held the position of Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers with the rank of Minister during the first Rami al-Hamdallah government in 2013, and the second in 2014. 

His life

Fawaz Aql was born in Deir Istiya in 1949. He studied elementary and middle school at Deir Istiya and Mafraq schools in Amman, and high school at Hawara School south of Nablus. He obtained a diploma in languages from the Teachers Institute in Amman in 1973, a bachelor’s degree in French from the University of Besançon in France in 1977, a master’s degree in English from the State University of New York in the United States in 1978, and a doctorate in English language curricula and teaching methods from the same university in 1982.

He worked as an Arabic language teacher at an Algerian cultural center to teach Arabic to the Algerian community in France , then moved to work as a research assistant at New York University, and as a teacher of French and Arabic at the same university. He returned to Palestine in 1982 and worked as a professor of English at An-Najah National University, and was appointed Dean of An-Najah Community College affiliated with An-Najah National University during the period (1992–1994). 

Aql was involved in national cultural and union activities, where he served as the head of the General Union of Palestinian Students branch at the University of Besançon during the years (1975-1977), the secretary of the staff at An-Najah National University in 1984, a founding member of the Association of Veteran Palestinian Revolution Fighters on behalf of the Fatah movement in 1994, a member of the advisory board of the Palestinian Wounded Foundation in 1995, and a founding member of the Pioneers Forum representing the Fatah movement in 2006. During that time, he assumed membership in a number of official government committees, and was appointed as an advisor for Cabinet Affairs in the General Secretariat with the rank of Minister in 2014 for six months, then returned to teaching at An-Najah National University, and then moved to work at Al-Istiqlal University in the city of Jericho in the Languages Department in 2017.  He was a member of the administrative board of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society during the year (2016-2017), and a member of the Federation of Palestinian Universities Unions during the years (2005-2008).

Fawaz Aql published a number of books, including:

Educational Khaljat Book 2015.
He contributed with others to writing a number of books such as (The Assistant Book for Scientific Research 1985, The Active Learning Book 2006, and The Cooperative Learning Book 2008).
