Jamil Yousef Musleh Al-Tarifi (Abu Yousef; born August 15 , 1947 in Deir Tarif, Ramla – died January 7 , 2022 in Ramallah ), Palestinian politician and minister .

His upbringing and education

Jamil Yousef Musleh Al-Tarifi was born in the village of Deir Tarif in the Ramla district on August 15, 1947. He immigrated with his family from his village to Ramallah during the Nakba in 1948. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Ain Shams University in Cairo in 1970. 

His positions

Member of the Advisory Committee of the Palestinian delegation to the Madrid Conference in 1991. 
He was elected as a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council after the 1996 Palestinian general elections, where he obtained 13,504 votes in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate district . 
Member of the Palestinian National Council .
Member of the Safe Passage Negotiation Team in 1999. 
Minister of Civil Affairs in the first Palestinian government , from March 5 , 1994 to May 8 , 1996. 
Minister of Civil Affairs in the second Palestinian government , from May 16 , 1996 to August 9 , 1998. 
Minister of Civil Affairs in the third Palestinian government , from August 9, 1998 to June 13 , 2002. 
Minister of Civil Affairs in the Fourth Palestinian Government , from June 13 , 2002 to October 29 , 2002. 
Minister of Civil Affairs in the eighth Palestinian government , from November 12 , 2003 to February 24 , 2005. 

His death

Al-Tarifi died in the city of Ramallah on Friday, January 7 , 2022 , at the age of 74, and was mourned by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas .
