Bushra Jamal Muhammad al-Tawil (born April 25, 1993 in al-Bireh ) is a Palestinian journalist and a Palestinian prisoner released from Israeli occupation prisons .

Her personal life

Bushra Al-Tawil was born and educated in the city of Al-Bireh in the central West Bank . She obtained a diploma in journalism and media from the Modern University College in Ramallah in 2013. Al-Tawil worked with the Palestinian Anin Al-Qaid Network, which specializes in the affairs and rights of prisoners and detainees, and was its spokesperson. 

Her father, Jamal al-Tawil, is a prominent member of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the Ramallah and al-Bireh Governorate , having served as mayor of al- Bireh between 2006 and 2012. 

Her father spent a total of 14 years in captivity at various intervals, and her mother about a year between February 2010 and February 2011.

Bushra was first arrested when she was 18 years old on July 6, 2011, and was sentenced to 16 months in prison, of which she served five months and was released after the prisoner exchange deal (Wafa al-Ahrar-Shalit) was completed at the end of 2011.  On July 2, 2014, the Israeli occupation re -arrested her to complete the remainder of her sentence until she was released on May 17, 2015. Later, on November 1, 2017, she was re-arrested and issued an administrative detention order that lasted eight months. 

She was arrested on December 11, 2019, and was issued with an administrative detention order for 4 months,  which was renewed again in March 2020 for 4 months,  and then an Israeli court ordered her release on July 28, 2020. 

At approximately 11 p.m. on November 8, 2020, the Israeli occupation forces arrested her at a flying checkpoint near the Yitzhar settlement, south of Nablus Governorate .  She was issued with a four-month administrative detention order, which was extended again until her release on October 5, 2021. 

On March 21, 2022, she was arrested south of Nablus.  She was later released on December 11, 2022. 

She was arrested on October 27, 2023, and as a result of the ceasefire agreement between the Palestinian resistance and Israel that began on January 19, 2025, she was released as part of the first phase of the prisoner exchange deal in the early hours of January 20, 2025.
