Hassan Al-Karmi was a Palestinian literary and media figure specializing in language. He was born in the city of Tulkarm. He worked as a teacher of mathematics and English at the Arab College in Jerusalem.

He later joined the Arabic section of the BBC World Service (Radio London) as a language monitor, serving until 1968. During his tenure, he prepared a series of English language lessons for radio broadcast.

Among his most important works is Al-Manar Dictionary (English–Arabic), published in 1970. He also authored the bilingual Al-Mughni dictionary series (English–Arabic and Arabic–English), including Al-Mughni Al-Kabir, Al-Mughni Al-Waseet, and Al-Mughni Al-Wajeez. In addition, he compiled an Arabic dictionary titled Al-Hadi ila Lughat al-Arab (“The Guide to the Arabic Language”). He translated numerous books and wrote articles and works in education and in the reform of the Arabic lexicon in both English and Arabic.
