Ibrahim Youssef Ahmed Obaid Assistant Professor of Political Science and International Relations Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Al-Aqsa University - Gaza
I am interested in Arab world issues in particular and international issues in general. I focus my academic and research interests on international relations issues. I have published twelve peer-reviewed academic studies in local, Arab, and international journals, universities, and research centers.
Interested in researching and writing about issues of the Arab world, and international relations in general.
Fathi Nimer holds a PhD in History from Al-Jinan University, which he obtained in 2015. Prior to that, he earned a Master's degree in History from Al-Quds University in 2008. His academic journey began with a Bachelor's degree in History from Al-Aqsa University, which he completed in 2001.
Taught Courses
The teaching portfolio covers a diverse range of historical subjects, focusing on different regions and time periods. These courses provide students with a comprehensive understanding of historical events, movements, and their impact on societies.
Among the key courses offered are Modern and Contemporary History of Asia, Palestinian Studies, and Modern and Contemporary History of Palestine, which delve into the historical development of these regions. Additionally, courses such as Empires and Leaders and Jerusalem and the Palestinian Issue explore political and cultural influences shaping global and regional history.
The curriculum also includes specialized courses like History of the Mamluks, Modern and Contemporary Arab History of the Levant, and History of the Jews and the Zionist Movement, offering in-depth perspectives on pivotal historical events. Students also engage with topics like Antiquities of Palestine, Regional and International Studies, and History of the Levant in the Islamic Era, broadening their knowledge of historical narratives and geopolitical developments.
Further enriching the historical discourse, courses such as The Palestinian Issue, Historical Research Method, and Crisis Management, Negotiation, and Conflict Resolution equip students with critical analytical skills. Additionally, specialized studies on The History of the Safavid Empire and Modern Iran, Modern History of the Republic of Türkiye, and Ancient and Medieval History of Palestine provide a broader historical context.
The curriculum extends to global perspectives with courses like History of the Americas and Modern and Contemporary Arab History of Morocco, ensuring that students gain a well-rounded historical education that connects local and international historical developments.
Administrative Positions
Throughout the academic career, several administrative roles have been undertaken, contributing to the development and management of academic programs and departments.
Since May 24, 2023, serving as the Chairman of the Program Committee of the Diplomacy and International Relations Program, overseeing curriculum development and program strategies. Previously, from April 23, 2017, to September 13, 2017, held the position of Head of the History Department, managing academic affairs, faculty coordination, and curriculum enhancement.
Additionally, from February 1, 2011, to August 31, 2015, worked as the Assistant Head of the History Department, assisting in academic planning, faculty support, and departmental administration. These roles have provided extensive experience in academic leadership and institutional development.
