Dr. Shaker Mohammad Abu Harbeed is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medical Sciences at Al-Aqsa University. He holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Pharmacology, which he earned from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Marburg, Germany, in 2005. His doctoral research focused on the use of molecular pharmacology in the treatment of cancer cells.
Following his academic studies, Dr. Abu Harbeed worked as the Director of the Drug Information and Toxicology Division at the General Directorate of Pharmacy, Ministry of Health in Gaza, from 2007 to 2008. He then moved into academia, where he began teaching at the University College of Science and Technology in Khan Younis as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Sciences.
Since 2012, Dr. Abu Harbeed has been serving as a faculty member at Al-Aqsa University. He currently lectures in both the Department of Nursing and the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, delivering a wide array of specialized courses including Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, Cell Biology, Genetics, and Public Health.
In addition to his academic responsibilities, Dr. Abu Harbeed has held several administrative roles at Al-Aqsa University. These include Assistant to the Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs (since September 2017), Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences (April–September 2017), Head of the Computer Department (December 2016 – April 2017), and Head of the Biology Department (September 2015 – April 2017).
Dr. Abu Harbeed’s research interests include functional studies of genes and gene products involved in cancer development and progression. He remains actively engaged in academic development and institutional leadership at the university level.
