Dr. Youssef Ahmed Mohamed Abu Farah is an Associate Professor of Business Management at Al-Quds Open University and currently serves as Acting Dean of the College of Administrative and Economic Sciences. He holds a PhD in Business Management from Al-Mustansiriya University, Iraq, awarded in 1998, a Master's degree in Business Management from the same university in 1996, and a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from An-Najah National University, Palestine, in 1994. His professional career includes serving as a faculty member at Al-Quds University from 13 September 2003 to 1 January 2006, and at Al-Quds Open University, where he has held several academic and administrative positions since 1 September 2015. These positions include Dean of the College of Administrative and Economic Sciences from 1 September 2015 to 17 June 2019, Faculty Member from 18 June to 31 August 2019, Director of the Center for Administrative and Economic Research from 1 September 2019 to 10 January 2020, Faculty Member from 11 January 2020 to the present, and Acting Dean of the College of Administrative and Economic Sciences since 15 July 2025.
Dr. Abu Farah has made substantial contributions to graduate education through the supervision and examination of Master's and Doctoral theses addressing strategic orientations and social peace, e-municipalities, bureaucracy and institutional performance, strategic leadership, organizational oppression, strategic agility, institutional performance, strategic flexibility, organizational creativity, e-training needs, social dialogue, organizational culture, competitive advantage, digital transformation, institutional excellence, good governance, and human resource development in Palestinian institutions and organizations. During the 2023/2024 academic year, he supervised five graduate theses, served as an internal examiner for five theses at Al-Quds Open University, and served as an external examiner for a thesis at Al-Istiqlal University in Jericho.
His research contributions include joint studies on the effectiveness of managing the Coronavirus crisis and its relationship to the institutional success of Palestinian ministries, published in the University of Derna Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences in Libya on 10 September 2023, and on the relationship between employee empowerment and organizational resilience in the food manufacturing sector in Hebron Governorate, published in Rimah for Research in Jordan on 1 November 2023. He has also participated in academic seminars and scientific activities, including a seminar entitled “Sustainable Development: The Cornerstone of Economic, Financial, and Administrative Stability in the Arab World,” organized by Ramah Center in Jordan on 30 July 2024, and served as a member of the scientific preparatory committee for the conference “Artificial Intelligence and its Role in Serving the Social, Human, and Security Sciences,” organized by Al-Istiqlal University, Ramah Center, and Touba Foundation in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on 17 November 2023. In addition, he has chaired the Applied Marketing Management Master's Program Committee at Al-Quds Open University and served as a member of the Editorial Board of the Al-Quds Open University Journal of Administrative and Economic Research. His external academic service includes membership on the Advisory Board of the University of Derna Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences for Issues 2 and 3, as well as membership on the Editorial Board of Rimah for Research and Studies for Issues 96, 97, 98, and 99.
His academic and professional interests encompass Business Management, strategic management, organizational performance, institutional development, organizational resilience, crisis management, governance, employee empowerment, organizational creativity, and digital transformation, reflecting extensive experience in teaching, research, graduate supervision, academic administration, and scholarly service.
