Shawkat Jamil Dallal ( October 25, 1931 – July 3 , 2016 ) is a Palestinian writer , author and novelist from the Palestinian city of Tulkarm . He is a professor of law and politics, a human rights activist , and an American citizen . He has a collection of international novels.
His upbringing and life
Shawkat Jamil Dalal was born in Tulkarm in the West Bank on October 25, 1931 to a family consisting of a father, a mother, and 8 children. His father is Jamil Dalal from Tulkarm , who is considered one of the leaders of the Palestinian Revolution in 1936 , and one of the mukhtars of Tulkarm . His mother is Lutfia Bishtawi Dalal, and his older brother is the Palestinian politician Shakib Dalal . Shawkat received his education in the schools of his city, Tulkarm , including the city's prestigious Al-Fadhiliya School , and then joined St. John's School in Jerusalem .
In his early youth, Shawkat worked with his friend Khaled Al-Darzi to raise awareness among the residents of their city of Tulkarm about the dangers of Zionist immigration to Palestine . On November 29, 1949, Shawkat Dalal left for Kuwait , and after nineteen months returned to his city of Tulkarm , where he decided to go to the United States of America to complete his university education. He arrived in France by sea, then headed from there to the United States of America by air, and arrived in the United States of America on September 15, 1951 , and enrolled in the law department at Cornell University in the city of Ithaca in New York State , and there at the university he met his wife, Diana Fuller. In 1959 , he obtained a doctorate in law from the same university. He worked as a lawyer during the period from 1960 to 1963 in the cities of Buffalo , Hubbard , Felt, Fuller, Utica , and New York , and then worked as a notary public from 1963 to 1967 .
In the early 1970s, he was appointed legal advisor to the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in Kuwait , and in the mid-1980s he returned to the United States , where he served as president of the New Hartford Public Library from 1988 to 1996. He was also one of the founders of the Dominican Republic College of Medicine and served on its board of directors.
Shawkat Dalal has served as a professor at Mohawk Valley Community College and Utica College , and as a professor of political science at Syracuse University from 1991 to 2004. [ has been at Colgate University since 2004 , from which he later retired as Professor Emeritus. Shawkat was also a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Palestinian Independent Commission for Human Rights , along with Hanan Ashrawi , Edward Said , and others. He is also a member and writer at the Beirut- based Institute for Palestine Studies .
His personal life
He is married to Diana Fuller Dalal, born October 23 , 1954 , and has three children: Stephen, Donna, and Thomas, in addition to eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

"Scattered Like Seeds", a novel in English, 1998 , in which he talks about his friend Dhafer Allam, who witnessed the Israeli massacres in 1948.

Awards and Honors
He has received several awards and honors, including the “Marquis Who's Who” award for “Most Notable Writer and Legal Professional” from the Marquis Who 's Who organization in the United States of America .
His death
Shawkat Jamil Dalal died on Sunday, July 3 , 2016, in New Hartford , New York , USA , at the age of 84.
