Walid Abu Bakr (born 1938) is a Palestinian literary critic, novelist and journalist. He was born and raised in worships. He studied philosophy, and worked in the field of social and journalistic research. He has a prominent activity in the Arab cultural press as a cultural editor, literary critic and editor-in-chief. He worked for a period of his life as a physics teacher at Ramallah High School. He is a member of the General Secretariat of the General Union of Palestinian Writers and Literary Criticism. He lives in Ramallah. He has written several novels and literary studies, and has translated several literary works, and has been interested in translating children's literature as well.

 

his biography

Walid Abu Bakr was born in the village of Ya'bad in the Jenin district in Mandatory Palestine in 1938 and grew up there. He received his primary and secondary education in its schools, then moved to the Teachers' House in Amman. After graduating, he moved to the city of Ramallah to work as a physics teacher for secondary wool from 1957 to 1959. Then he was arrested in Ramallah until 1960. After his release, he moved to Kuwait, and completed his university studies in philosophy and sociology at Beirut Arab University, and graduate studies were at Kuwait University while she was in Philosophy of science.

He worked in the Kuwaiti press, and began as an editor, then head of a department, and then editor-in-chief of a magazine. He published several critical articles in a number of Kuwaiti magazines, most notably Al-Bayan. He lived in Kuwait for nearly thirty years, then returned to his homeland and settled in Ramallah. There, he worked as head of the Ugarit Cultural Center, and continued his journalistic career and contributed to the Al-Ayyam newspaper.
